Things to do in Perth

Rockingham Wild Encounters offers 3 of the best things to do in Perth and have a tour option that will suit your schedule and budget.

For the adventurous try the ‘must do’ Swim with Wild Dolphins. This is the ultimate close up wildlife encounter. You join the Rockingham Wild Encounters crew of dolphin experts onboard the purpose built boat ‘Apollo 3’. They fit you out with masks, snorkels and wetsuits then give you a tour briefing on what to expect and how to make the most of your wild dolphin encounter. You don’t even need to be a great swimmer as the crew use underwater aqua scooters to get you right amongst the action.

One of the best things to do in Perth for families is catch the ferry to Penguin Island. It’s only a 45 minute drive south and then a 5 minute cruise across the calm, clear waters of Shoalwater Bay. Here you will find perfect, white sandy beaches with warm, shallow waters that are great for taking the kids swimming. On the back of the island you will find secluded coves and colourful limestone reefs to explore. The highlight of any visit to Penguin Island is seeing the little penguins being fed at the Discovery Centre. There are three penguin feeding sessions a day hosted by the Department of Environment and Conservation at 10.30am, 12.30 and 2.30pm. At only $17.50 for adults and $14.50 for children and with ferries departing daily from 9am- 3pm, visiting Penguin Island is easy and great value.

If you want see the best of Australia’s marine wildlife, try Rockingham Wild Encounters Dolphins, Penguins and Sea Lions tour. You start with the 2 hour Dolphin Watch eco adventure. It’s called an eco adventure as it combines adventure style boating with wildlife viewing amongst the stunning backdrop of the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. The stars of the show are Rockingham’s famous wild dolphins. Your hosts have come to know over 180 of the local wild dolphins and boast a better than 99% success rate over 20 years of operation. After the Dolphin Watch visitors can enjoy free time to explore Penguin Island before a picnic lunch is served overlooking spectacular views of the marine park. The Dolphins, Penguins & Sea Lions option also includes entry to the penguin feeding and a 45 minute glass bottom boat cruise to view rare Australian Sea Lions.
